Mary Njoku is a Nigerian actress, producer, and director-general of ROK films studios, a Nigerian film production company. She started from scratch in the Nigerian Nollywood industry and has grown into a global celebrity and entrepreneur. However, it wasn’t an easy or smooth sail for her.
After featuring in several movies, she ventured into production but was turned down by a Nollywood actor on the basis that she wasn’t big enough to venture into movie production. According to him, she was too small and was only relying on big actors to push her career. So he wasn’t going to be part of her production.
However, rather than being discouraged, these words spurred her into achieving more, with a renewed determination to succeed. Today ROK studio is featured in Sky TV, UK; DSTV, and GOTV. On DSTV, there is ROK, ROK 2, and ROK 3 with over 15 million subscribers in Nigeria and 12.5 million viewers in the UK. Presently, it has an animation studio and the largest content library in Nigeria. It was acquired by a French film distributor by the name, CANAL + in 2019, and Mary Njoku sits as the director-general of the company.
If you want to succeed, stay motivated, irrespective of who looks down on you or the obstacles you may face. Forge ahead. Stay consistent and put your best foot forward. There is greatness ahead of you.
What did they say or do to you? It’s not enough to stop you. Don’t throw in the towel. Pay the price, if you truly believe in the cause. Achieving anything great takes consistent effort and hard work. So stay motivated and refill your lamp with oil. They are many waiting to benefit from the brightness of your lamp. You can only lay claim to victory after you’ve won the battle.
