BREAKING THE HABIT OF IMPULSIVE SPENDING, PART 2
Breaking The Habit of Impulsive Spending Part 2.
What To Do If You Consider Yourself an Impulsive Buyer
#1: Awareness
Become aware of impulsive spending habits.
Most people don’t know when they have become controlled by their spending emotions. Checking out your expenses after every spending is important.
What did you purchase outside your actual budget? Keep a record of your spending and decide a change of habit when the next income flows in.
#2: Discipline
I have heard someone say to me..” sorry, I had made my budgets for this month, let me consider giving you that money next month” To me, that’s a disciplinarian in spending wisely.
Keep a monthly plan or weekly plan as you may desire. But be sure to stick to it if you must beat impulsive spending habits
#3 Make a ” To-Do list”
Before you begin shopping or outing make a shopping list.
I remember years ago as a child when my parents sent me to buy things from the market for them..they write out items those items they need and sent me the exact amount for each item.
Keeping such a routine for your personal purchases not only ensure accountability but it makes you spend with a plan in mind and according to budget. Above all spending by your impulsive habit is prevented.
#4: Delaying tactics seeking the voice of the Holy Spirit
Delay making major spending by waiting to hear the inner voice of conviction..a day, a minute, or hours before major spending…the still small voice of the blessed Holy Spirit can save you from impulsive spending.
Remember that the Lord is your Lord if He can be involved in your spending too.
Stop at the shopping way or in your car….a moment before you step into the mall….ask Him.
Lord, should I buy this or that? Dear Lord Jesus, Lead my expenses today, Lord. I give you access to my will and access to my thoughts. Take away any item in my thoughts that is not essential or useful for me.
I have been doing this in my focus prayers and it has worked several times for me..so I recommend it.
