A LIFESTYLE OF HONESTY
Honesty is the attribute of being truthful. Honesty means we are truthful in what we do and what we say. Speaking and living the truth help those around us to come to the truth. Being honest is about following God’s footsteps, for He cannot lie.
Text: Hebrews 6:18 – “So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie.” (NLT)
Since we are following God’s Footsteps, then honesty needs to be the focus. When you are faithful and honest it is evident.
Let’s look at Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11
Ananias and Sapphira were a married couple who sold a possession and gave the proceeds to the disciples. They both agreed to keep back part of the price, they didn’t give all of the money. They lied, telling Peter that it was all of the money when in fact they had saved some back for themselves. Of course, this is their possession, the land belongs to the couple. Telling Peter the truth that they kept part of the money would have cost them nothing.
Because this land belongs to the couple, but they allowed Satan to fill their heart to lie. Jesus taught in the book of John chapter 8 that devil is the father of lies. “When devil speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.” We are not of the devil. We are of God, so therefore we walk in truth.
Prayer– I yield myself to the Spirit of God at work in me. The Spirit of truth is at work in me. I walk in truth in Jesus name Amen.
