Snail farming is called heliciculture and it’s a very lucrative business. Snail farming is the process of raising edible land snails, primarily for human consumption or cosmetic use.
Snail is part of the diet in many parts of Africa for those that love to eat it, Well if you taste it you will love it.
Snails are a highly nutritious food with zero fat and low cholesterol. Certain types of snails are fit for commercial snail farming because of their size and the quantity of meat they produce. Not all snails are consumed by humans, some snails are not edible.
Snailery is noiseless; No other farm animal is as quiet as snails. Snail dropping is odorless; compared to poultry or piggery.
Starting a Snail Farming
You can rear snails on a small scale at the back of your house; You can use discarded tires as snail pens. Decide on the species of snail to rear; The species of snail to rear should be based on its size, the quantity of meat they produce and it must be edible.
Feeding; Source a variety of fruit and vegetables to feed your snail.
If you rear snails in commercial quantity, you can sell them to hotels, fast food, and restaurants.
Snail Farming can make you a lot of money because snail multiplies rapidly under favorable conditions.
