THE PURSUIT OF VISION
THE PURSUIT OF VISION
She was so brilliant. She made all her WAEC papers. She was preparing to gain admission into a higher institution. Then, she met a young man who wanted to marry her immediately. He promised that she could continue with her educational pursuit from his house. Her family didn’t support this. They wanted her to pursue her academic dreams. He managed to convince her that she would still go to school. They got married and moved in together.
A few months later, the beatings started. He wanted kids. He said education was not necessary. The kids didn’t come on time, so he kept beating her and abusing her verbally. She would run home to her family with a swollen face. He will come back begging. She would return back with him. She couldn’t study anymore. Her education was no longer the focus. She was now fighting for her life. About eight years later, she divorced him. Unfortunately, she didn’t want to pursue her academic goals anymore. She had lost her passion and self-esteem.
A lot of people get distracted at very crucial moments of their lives. Some fall and rise again. Some fall and don’t have the courage to rise again. These missed opportunities are often met with regrets. To ensure that we pursue and birth our vision, we must recognize the following;
– Vision is for an appointed time (Habakkuk 2:3). The longer you delay on pursuing a vision, the harder it becomes. No matter how strong you are, you can’t start a football career at 40. You’ve already lost about 22 years or more of training and practice.
-Do the right thing at the right time. Don’t procrastinate. You don’t have a whole lifetime to pursue the vision. Time is measured, in seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years. Every second that ticks, eats into your time. A stitch in time saves nine. Don’t delay over your goals.
-Follow up on your goals with urgency, vigour, and passion. Run with your vision. No one else will do it for you. Others may support you but they can’t take your place on the lane of destiny.
-Make hay while the sun shines. This simply means, don’t lose your opportunities. Harness them. Use them well.
-Don’t remain in the same spot. Stagnant water smells. It doesn’t flow, so it becomes a hub for decaying leaves, dead animals, and mud. Flowing water carries life. Make up your mind to run this year. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl. By all means, make an effort to change your position.
Ecclesiastes 3:1- There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
We see you winning.
God bless you.
