A good decision may not be popular, but if it’s right, stick to it.
Many years back, during my youth service year, I taught mathematics at a school. When the senior students in the school were about to write their external examination, the principal requested that all the corpers should assist the students to ensure that the school had a good result. I bluntly refused and insisted that the students have been taught for six years and so should be allowed to showcase their intellectual prowess.
Of course, this did not go down well with the principal. She became very upset with me and wouldn’t speak with me anymore. However, shortly after this, I wrote a test with a bank and passed. They offered me a place which I gladly accepted. I eventually got retained by the bank.
Taking a good decision may not always be popular, but if it’s right, stick to it. Take a stand. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t chicken out and follow the path of least resistance. Don’t be a man-pleaser but rather a God-pleaser. What are your moral beliefs? Stick to them. Don’t follow the crowd. Don’t do it because others are doing it.
Life is a marathon and not a relay. Finishing a marathon is not cheap. It takes strength, drive, focus, and perseverance. Many start a marathon but few reach the finishing line. If your goal is to reach the finishing line, then build your strength and capacity, to pass through the test of life. Let your decisions be founded on integrity and you will surely finish well.
