A Lifestyle of Sincerity
The true-life story of a young man who was employed as a Manager in an Information Technology Company in Lagos. A few weeks after resumption, a senior manager called him into his office and offered him One million Naira to inflate the company’s budget on IT expenditure. He asked his senior colleague to give him till the next day to think about it.
At home that evening, he mentioned it to his wife. She thought of all the bills they could immediately settle and the vacation they’ve been planning for. At least now, they could afford it. This money would make a huge difference.
Honey, we need the money so much but I think you need to turn down the offer. What they want you to do is wrong. The next morning, he met his senior colleague and turned down the proposal. I’m sorry, I can’t accept the offer, he said.
Two days later, he received an email promoting him to the position of Regional Manager in charge of Africa. He had passed the test, unknowingly to him.
How often have we remained on the same level because we failed the test that was meant to open the door to the next?
Sincerity is in action, not in words. Sincerity as a lifestyle means the absence of pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy. This is the lifestyle expected of a Christian.
Philippians 1:10- That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.
Prayer: Oh Lord, give me the grace and strength to be sincere in all my dealings in Jesus name. Amen.
