Overcoming the challenge of Unemployment by Acquiring Vocational/IT skills – Series one – Day 12 – Home Made Body Care Products
Our body will always be with us so it is important that we care for it. Whilst we understand that life is beyond the physical, we also know that we must take proper care of our bodies in order to be alive and healthy to do the things we want to do.
We live in a DIY generation and in so many ways that’s a good thing. We have the opportunity of ditching the chemicals, experimenting with and fixing up our home essentials using natural products and less harmful options.
Learning skills like this means that whether or not we choose to monetize, we at least save cost by producing for home use.
Body care products include shampoo, lotion, scrub, petroleum jelly, oil, etc
Today I’ll be focusing on “Vaseline”.
Ingredients and their functions in Vaseline production:
- Paraffin oil – This is the oil that helps to reduce the thickness of Vaseline since water is not needed in the production. it has a healing and a nourishing ability
- Petroleum jelly
- Paraffin wax- This helps to hold the mixture together
- Lanolin – This ingredient gives the Vaseline an elastic feel, making it appear thick.
- 5. Fragrance (as desired)- It gives a nice scent to your Vaseline.
- Vitamin E – It serves as an anti-oxidant for nourishing dry and cracked skin
Production Process of Vaseline
– Drop a clean pot on a heat (stove), add the paraffin oil, paraffin wax, jelly, and lanolin, and allow them to dissolve and mix properly
– Add Vitamin E and allow it to dissolve.
– Drop the pot from heat and wait for it to cool down a bit.
– Then add the fragrance, scoop it into containers and allow it to settle inside the container while cooling gently.
Viola!!!
Your Vaseline is ready.
