Communication in Leadership
The president of the company where I worked was scheduled to come in from overseas to have a meeting with the staff. We all looked forward to the meeting. Finally, we were going to have an opportunity to present our concerns to top management.
The day came. The meeting started. For every issue we presented, he trivialized it. He had a ready answer and defense for every concern. He lectured the staff on why they needed to work harder and put in more effort. No issue was discussed. No agreements were made. We all left the meeting demoralized. It was not a surprise when lots of staff left the company shortly after that. – -Daniel
Leaders must have the ability to communicate their vision to their followers in a way that permeates, inspires, and persuades.
