Breaking Free from Anger (Marriage Series)
Breaking Free from Anger (Marriage Series)
When two people are in love, the atmosphere is filled with joy. However, there will be moments of disagreement. This is due to human differences, which must be properly managed. Anger happens when emotions go out of control. One of the things that trigger anger is poor communication.
A lady complained that her husband was fond of beating her. So, what was responsible for the constant fights, she was asked. She said she constantly used abusive words on him. So, when she provoked him with words, the man responded with his hands. Though physical abuse is not right, emotional abuse with words is also wrong.
Other things that trigger anger include ingratitude, disrespect, resentment, unforgiveness, bitterness, lack of self-control, lack of understanding, etc.
Though humans are prone to anger, self-control is necessary. The Scripture says anger dwells in the bosom (heart) of a fool. This is because when anger takes over, we cannot reason properly. Most decisions that are taken in the heat of anger are always wrong.
Anger Management Tips
– Be Slow to Anger: Situations will arise but do not let your temper rise. Whoever is slow to anger has a great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly, Proverbs 14: 29 ESV. Be intentional about not getting angry. Know the things that trigger you or your spouse and avoid them. Take time to analyze situations and look for solutions, rather than apportion blame.
– Avoid yelling or saying harsh words to your spouse: A soft answer reduces wrath but grievous words stir up anger, Proverbs 15:1. When you respond to situations with the wrong words, you make your spouse feel unloved. It makes a bad situation worse. Words cannot be taken back once they are released. Therefore, we must choose our words carefully.
Remember, you can have peace in your home if you choose to have mastery over your emotions. Choose to build your home.
Happy New Month.
Keep shining because you are a star.
